It's official!

The Mangus family will be officially formed on Thursday, July 1. The announcement makes it real. The priesthood of God makes it forever.

Let's just say that Johnny might not have had anything to do with them meeting, but he has been a fan for a long time.

Progress!

Eve is crawling and using her knees now! I'm so excited for her. I thought she would scooch for the rest of her life. And Johnny is using complete sentences. After tripping on the stairs, I gave him a kiss and sent him down to the basement to get a kiss from his dad. While it was exciting that he shared a complete coherent sentence with his dad and used a word I'd never heard him use before, it wasn't anything close to the truth. John told me later that he reported, "Daddy, Mommy pushed me!"

Air Covey

This baby was so much fun to see in the ultrasound. At the appropriate times, the technician told me to look away so I couldn't see if our baby was a boy or a girl. One thing was confirmed. The baby is very cute as denoted by awesome profile pictures. The other confirmation of the day is that we have a professional athlete on our hands. I don't know which sport and I don't know which gender, but if you look closely, you can tell the baby is already wearing what looks like their own high top sneaker. Air Covey. Love it.

Roommate Reunion 2010

We have been planning this forever. We last got together in 2007 right before baby Johnny was born and we decided to get together every 3 years. Who knows what the future will hold, but apartment 17 in Seattle was a BLAST. It seems like every fond memory revolved around food and let's just say I wouldn't have it any other way.

I came home feeling refreshed, rejuvenated and ready to tackle all of the same ol' same ol' day in day out. We had a nice few days to pick up right where we left off. I love these girls and am so grateful for their support and friendship. They help me want to be a better mom and person.

Blast from the past

Johnny and Camille circa 1986 in outfits that Nana sewed for them with love.

Johnny circa Easter 1986 wearing another specially sewn suit from his mom. He obviously filled his basket well enough to sit back and relax for the rest of the day.

Johnny and Evelyn circa 25 years later. Same outfits, same genes.

Speechless. This girl leaves me speechless.

U know you're finished with graduate school if...

Your family is willing to dress up in your school colors to support your graduation!

We love you, Katie! Congratulations and way to finish your OT program. You are a source of inspiration and F-U-N to us. We are so happy for you and for the fact that school is OVER. U rock.

Although we have no problem showing our own true colors while we support you!

Graduation 2010

The ceremony was fun. I was so glad to be sitting with my cohort - the people I had suffered with for the past 3 years - and it was great to wear the Harry Potter robe and hear the speakers. I was kind of dreading sitting through a long program, but it was fantastic. The student speaker talked about persevering and how the Australian Olympic row team had one member - Lay Down Sally, who gave up at the last quarter of the race by laying down in the canoe. Tragic.

Then, J. Willard Marriott told the story of his father - son of a sheepherder who knew his dad would work for the bank for the rest of his life and his only way out was to get an education. So he worked hard, went and started a restaurant in Washington D.C. and eventually expanded to hotels.

The cool parts about the ceremony included, but were not limited to: Dean Cornia had different groups of people stand - Stand if you met your spouse at BYU, stand if you are an international student, stand if you've served a mission. Standing with all of the returned missionaries felt powerful. After walking across the stage, they had all 600 of us sign a piece of the Marriott center basketball court floor. I signed my name right above the M in Marriott because I wanted my name to be noticed if people were reading names. But it wasn't reachable from a normal angle, so I wrote it upside down from the top. Only a graduate school graduate could have pulled it off.

Finished! Hallelujah, this degree is finished for this girl. How am I going to celebrate? Have another baby in October, that's how!

Happy Birthday, Sweet Girls

Happy Birthday, girlie girl (thank you Grandma Jeanne for the AWESOME birthday accessories). We love you so much. You have learned how to give a kiss. You say "mmmmmm" and then you can actually pucker up. You know how to army crawl to get wherever you want to go. You LOVE sitting by the train that Nana got for your brother when he was one. You push all the buttons and turn the pages to the music. You sleep perfectly through the night. I put you to bed at 7 pm, the same time as Johnny boy, and you usually wake up around 8 or 9 am and drink 7 ounces of milk from your bottle and then you go right back to sleep for 3 more hours. Then you're up for oatmeal for lunch and playtime and you take another nap around 2 o'clock and then you wake up by 4 and have another 7 ounces and then another bottle at 7 pm and then bed. You are like clockwork, girl - so dependable and so mellow and cheerful. You giggle when Johnny boy tries to kiss you. You have started to say "uh-oh" when you drop things and "wow" whenever I say it to you. You can wave hello and goodbye. You are so darling. Everywhere we go, people comment on how beautiful you are. Your lips are so dainty. You are our little doll. We love you so much, cute girl. Happy Birthday. Love, Mom.

Dear Evelyn,
You've got your mother's eyes, and lips and looks. You are so cute on your birthday today. I'm so happy to have a little girl. I love you, Evelyn. Love, Dad.

Show some Love

My first attempt at video on my blog. But these dance moves were too amazing not to post for all the world (Mexico) to see. Blue Team ROCKED the HOUSE.

Conference was over Easter weekend. Johnny boy got an Easter basket with lots of plastic eggs and treats. He has been begging to hold the eggs when I make breakfast in the morning. He carries the egg around all day and inevitably drops it and breaks it, sending him into a fit of absolute tears. I couldn't figure out why he was so infatuated with eggs and so upset about breaking them until I was actually thinking about the Land Before Time movie he watches. It's all about the egg snatchers and the baby dinos taking care of the chomper egg.

So, anyways. This Easter Johnny was playing with a freaky bunny that giggles and shakes to music like that tickle me Elmo toy. It totally occupied him for a freaky amount of time.

The other favorite activity of the day was mopping the kitchen floor with Nana. Johnny was an eager albeit ineffective helper.

We're all about keeping it even-steven in this family. So since I've painted my nails once in my entire life, it was only fair to paint Eve's nails at least once. Collette had her cute niece over during conference so we joined the pretty parade.
