Reverence is more than just quietly sitting

Davis is so adorable. Beepa gave Davie this compliment after visiting Grandma Ila's grave over Memorial Day.

I think some spirits come to Earth with special predispositions and gifts.  Little Davis has been blessed this way.  He is tenderhearted and has a special sense of reverence about him.  I noticed it today in Fast and Testimony Meeting and again in this picture. I think little Davis Covey has a special place in his heart for Jesus Christ... Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither hath entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that Love Him (1 Corinthians 2:9)

Sister Dalton Lunch

Mom Covey is part of a women's group called Philesophians. They meet together fairly often and I look forward to when they invite daughters to come along. Mom invited us to hear Sister Dalton speak. It was days after Scotty was born, but I knew I wanted to be there. It was inspiring. She had her daughter there with her. She was adorable. The daughter shared about how she and her newly wed husband had wanted to join her mom & dad as they went through the Grand Canyon. They went on the trip, having no idea that they were planning on running through the Grand Canyon. Hilarious. They didn't even pack running shoes. But they made it. Sister Dalton was cheerful and happy and filled with testimony of our identity as daughters of God. Her purpose is to share that with others - reminding us who we are. O remember, remember and perish not. So important. Sandra and her daughters were there as well. Fun to see everyone. Someone walked up to our table and saw Katie holding Scott and gushed over how good Katie looked for having such a newborn baby. Then she was corrected and told that I was the mom and she just looked me up and down and didn't say anything. Pretty hilarious. Pretty important to not take that to mean that I looked horrible. The proof is in the pictures. Having a baby does not mean that you look like you did before you got pregnant. It means you look like you are still pregnant and it takes a while to fit back into your clothes so you keep wearing your pregnancy clothes until you don't have to anymore. Shut up, Satan. You don't even have a body...

Scott squared

One day little Scott will be as big as his Beepa. I wonder if his biceps will be as big? I wonder if his legs will be as long? I wonder if his hair will be as...well, non-existent? I'm grateful for namesakes. Scott is named for his Beepa and I remember telling my dad we were going to name him Scott and I remember how I felt hearing my dad's reaction. Beepa came out just to hold Scotty. What a fun trip. Thanks for capturing it in picture, beal. I love you, Scotty. I love you, dad.

5 days

Is 5 days really long enough to get to know someone and fall in love with them? This boy has just slipped into our family. I remember before we (I) was pregnant with him and just feeling his absence. I would count my children and someone was missing. It feels so good to have him here now. I count to four and I feel complete enough...for now.

Can we build it?

Yes, we can! Although this picture was taken just before the hammer hit his forehead...Yikes.

Happy Graduation!

Van graduated from the University of Utah in International Relations and Russian. We celebrated with them by going out to dinner. Van looked so dapper in his suit. He is a very handsome man. And he's well educated, now. Johnny boy was obviously confused as to why he was wearing red instead of blue. Evelyn is always up for a good party, regardless of the color scheme. Johnny's shirt was a riddle showing Van's initials, VKM, as well as the initials of the brethren who also graduated from the U. Go, Utes. And Go, Cougars. Even Scotty showed his love from inside the womb!

Congratulations, Van! We're excited for you and Katie and what the future holds for you. We love you.

Girls Night!

My sisters totally surprised me and treated Evelyn and I to pedicures, Pizza Factory, ear piercing (for Ila and Ruby only!) and Cold Stone ice cream. Yum. It was awesome preparation for this baby to come. Evelyn kept saying, "Girls Night!" It was so cute. We only have 4 girl cousins out of 12 grandchildren on my side. Crazy after growing up with 5 girls in my family and one boy. Although I always did grow up thinking I would raise a bunch of blonde boys. Probably just because it was the opposite of what I grew up with so I thought that was what I would get. I love what I have and I can't wait to meet you, Scotty!
